Workshop Overview

Attend this workshop if you would like to improve your written communication at work – get your message across more clearly in a variety of formats such as emails, reports, policies and procedures.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is open to all Academic and Professional staff.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this workshop, you will be able to:

  • identify and demonstrate some common principles of plain language writing
  • use correct grammar such as punctuation, apostrophes and capitalisation
  • identify at least three key aspects of structure and physical presentation that will improve all business documents
  • write an effective email and follow good email protocol/etiquette
  • identify (and demonstrate, if applicable) at least three factors in writing effective policies and procedures
  • demonstrate an efficient planning process to write a report.

Format

This workshop runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm and lunch will be provided. It will start on time and be interactive, consisting of group activities, discussion, some independent work and case studies.

Pre-work

Pre-work is not required for this workshop.

You are encouraged to bring one of your own documents (either in progress or completed) to the workshop to work on during the afternoon session.
