Human Resources - Staff Development
Welcome
The Staff Development arm of the Organisational Development Unit within Human Resources evolved out of the Centre for Professional Development and was officially established in January 2007. It arose out of a response to an increased need to support the HR initiatives at Macquarie University.
The strategic priorities for Macquarie University calls essentially for cultural change through the development of a performance culture. To this end the Staff Development priorities for 2009 include the following:
- The launch of the Advanced Diploma in Management.
- The introduction of a revised Certificate IV in Business (Front Line Management) – 10 modules (an increase from the original 8 module program).
- Continuation of Headstart, a leadership development program for academic Heads of Department and Associate Deans.
- Delivery of the Leadership Essentials program, targeted at line and middle managers (both academic and non-academic).
- Launch of e-learning in the form of 47 courses (7 technological and 40 soft skills).
- Integration between the e-learning system and the Training Administration System to ensure that the Training Profile of each employee reflects any courses (taken face to face or on-line) through Macquarie University's Staff Development initiatives.
- Supporting the new Performance Development and Review (PDR) system and encouraging the development of a performance culture within Macquarie University by providing an opportunity for a 1/2 day training on PDR process to all staff (both supervisory and non-supervisory) and 1 full day training on PDR: Conducting Effective Performance Conversations (Supervisors only) to supervisors.
- The review and improvement of existing courses offered by the Staff Development Unit.
- Research on an articulation of the Advanced Diploma in Management to a Bachelor in Business from Macquarie University.
