Responsibilities of MGSM Scholarship Students

Successful scholarship recipients will need to agree to comply with these guidelines:

Student fees and costs

While your scholarship will covers all your tuition fees for the duration of the course, you must meet any compulsory student fees and the costs of any books or materials required to complete the course.

Minimum progress

To maintain your scholarship, you are required to pass these 3 units:

  • Accounting for Management
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Marketing Management (except in exceptional circumstances).

It is also your responsibility to ensure that your study does not interfere with your normal work duties.

Timeframe and deferral guidelines

You are required to commence your studies in Term 1, 2012 and complete your studies within the program's timeframe.

Only one deferment for commencement or completion of studies will be granted based on work and/or personal challenges. Requests must be made in writing to the MGSM Director of HR and the Manager, Organisational & Staff Development Unit stating the reasons for deferment and timeframe for completing your studies.

Reporting (at the end of the program)

At the end of the program you are required, in consultation with your supervisor, to submit a one-page report on how:

  • the program has assisted you in meeting your objectives as stated in your application
  • you are applying the skills and knowledge learned, to your work
  • the program has been of benefit to the University.

Copies of this report should be forwarded to your Head of Office/ Department/ Faculty, and to the Director, Human Resources.

Leaving your employment at Macquarie University while on scholarship

If you leave you will need to notify Margo Droulers (Manager, Organisation & Staff Development) in writing.

You will no longer be entitled to scholarship support. However, you can continue with the course of study that you commenced as an MGSM scholarship holder after leaving the University. If you choose to continue the rest of your studies you will have to make alternative payment arrangements directly with the MGSM for the remainder of your program.
