Workshop Overview

The Crucial Conversations – Refresher course is for experienced managers and supervisors who would like to brush up on their skills and further develop their capability in conducting honest, crucial conversations whilst positively engaging and influencing their staff, peers and other key stakeholders.

Who Should Attend?

This workshop is open to all experienced academic and professional staff supervisors and managers.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this workshop you will be able to:

  • be more proactive in conducting crucial conversations with staff, peers and other stakeholders.
  • build greater awareness of your current influencing style and approach and identify techniques to build upon their existing skills.
  • build stronger stakeholder relationships
  • have the opportunity to openly discuss various ‘crucial conversation’ scenarios and receive facilitator and peer feedback.
  • create a realistic action-learning plan with next steps, commitments and accountabilities following the modules to ensure your learning can be transferred to your workplace.

Format

This workshop runs from 9.30am to 1.30pm. It will start on time and be interactive, consisting of group activities and discussions.

Pre-work

  • Complete a brief pre-workshop questionnaire.
  • Read a Harvard Business Review article that will be sent to you prior to the workshop.
